Consultation summary
The engagement programme for the future of the Southwick Estate started in summer 2021, with initial discussions with residents about what they did and did not like about where they lived, and what they wanted for the future.
Stage 2 took place over autumn 2021, when four more defined options were first put to the group: Repairs and Refurbishment, News Homes and Improvement Works, Partial Redevelopment, and Full Redevelopment.
Stage 3 of the local engagement then took place in summer 2022, when further details of the four options were presented. The community feedback gathered through each of these stages enables the vision for the Southwick Estate to be established as a collaborative vision, which takes the latest community concerns and ideas into account.
Your feedback so far
In the first Stage many residents were more concerned about immediate maintenance needs and the impact of those issues upon their day-to-day lives, than the long-term future of the Estate.
During Stage 2, residents expressed different preferences towards each option, with 26% of those engaged in this stage preferring repairs and refurbishment and 28% opting for full redevelopment of the Estate.
In Stage 3 we found that Options 1 and 4 are the most popular, with Option 4, Full Redevelopment, being slightly more favoured. A substantial 45% of respondents did not give a preference which indicated that we could not determine a preferred option at this stage.
